Bias tape
It is a narrow strip of fabric that is cut on the bias, or cross-grain. The fibers on the strip which are at 45 degrees to the length of the strip, make it stretchy as well as more fluid and more drapeable compared to a strip that is cut on grain. Many pieces can be pieced together and are used to bind seams. It is most commonly used on the edges of quilts, placemats, bibs, around armhole and neckline edges instead of a facing, also can be used for a simple strap or tie fo around armhole and neckline edges instead of a facing, also can be used for a simple strap or tie for casual bags or clothing.
