I loved the Judy skirt when I saw it and had to make it. When I went to get some fabric I fell in love with this tweed so I decided to try it despite it being kind of thick for pleating. Although the pleats are a little finicky, I think it came out great! I used a silk charmeuse bias binding on the pleated section. The color of the silk is the same as one of the little flicks of color in the tweed. (I will say that making silk bias tape is only for the brave of heart.) I had to resize this up to a 48, which was my first time resizing a pattern but I was quite successful – the skirt fits me perfectly. (And like one of the other Judy makers noted, you don’t have to be skinny for this skirt to look good.) I also made the pleat part longer on both the front and back so that they come just to where the zipper is. I added a lining since tweed can be kinda itchy. I’m really pleased with how this came out. Please pardon the photos of me in the skirt – I would not normally wear a black pirate tshirt with this, but it’s Sunday and I didn’t feel like getting dressed! Also, once I uploaded the pictures the color came out a little duller than it really is.

ed you look fantastic, you did a great job upsizing the pattern and that tweed is to die for, I love all the little colours flecked though it, I am jealous! It fits you perfectly and the pleats are amazing. I love the pink also and I think I love your version better than the original BurdaStyle one, it is much more flattering. I hope you enjoy wearing your new skirt, happy sewing :) xx
