Description
I made the Nora for a wedding in Central Park, NYC. It was a big hit and so wonderful to dance in. It felt very elegant and I think it was a flattering style with the belt and enclosure high on the waist, right under the bust.
I didn’t use embellishments along the collar and down the front center of the dress because I didn’t have time, but I would certainly love to put some beautiful beaded layer along the band. I also didn’t line the dress, which I would definitely do the second time around.
My only concern about the pattern is the hook-and-eye situation for the closure. It didn’t create a clean, solid closure and there were gaps when I sat down and stuff. I think the hook & eyes also loosened up over the course of wearing the dress and they are a total pain to sew on. I’m going to try a zipper and see if I can conceal it sufficiently.

Dupioni silk in a chocolate-y gray with a satin underskirt in gray/green.

I’m so glad someones done this pattern and posted it! Can’t wait for your later ‘photoshoot’ to show the gown off. Looks great in the pics so far :)
