  I like this creation. Could this work in a heavier cotton? In Florida, cotton is a must! I’m thinking a solid color with floral fabric for the pleating. Definitely adding a little length to both pieces.

  I discussed a few options of using the pattern if you don’t feel comfortable with the fullness of the pleats in my comment above.
  
  
  
  If you use the right material, sitting down does not matter with it, just like any other pleated skirt. The silk wool that I used keeps the pleats well and looks great even after a full day in the office.

  this is cute! I made my husband a kilt a while back and am not so into pleating :( Although I love the shirt shes wearing :) can you post a pattern for that?

  This is an interesting design but while I like the style, I don’t think it’s very flattering. You need very small hips to pull this off. And I’d like to see pictures how this skirt looks after sitting down for a few hours ;)

  Here a few comments:
  For one, if you feel that it is not flattering and too bulky, you can either choose a very light fabric, keep the pleated part flat or not use that panel at all.
  If you decide to flatten the pleated part you can choose many different ways of decorating it.
  
  
  
  I for one made a variation that kept the pleats, but I decorated it with lace instead.

  This does not look flattering, particularly if you of the fuller figure. Notice this comes in larger sizes, cannot imagine what the fuller figure would look like in this!

  I forgot to mention. Pressing pleats, make a cardboard form that will hold the fold when you press over it, and use steam. It can be time consuming but works. I have used a couple at a time to make it go faster. Mostly, wool skirts with pleats go to a dry cleaner if they get dirty. Otherwise hang out side, air out, spray a little water with some lavender or other refreshing herb and let air dry (or hang in bathroom with great steam from your bath and let it dry). Make a little slip to wear under it! It is removable lining and protects the skirt from body oils and from getting stretched.

  Hi, I really like it. Even if you are not a model size, I think it could be made to look flattering and edgy. It seems that you can play with the proportions and colors. If I make it, I might make the pleated detail in a sheer fabric. You can also determine the level the pleating will start as well as end. The base skirt looks to be simple A-line. The waistband can also be easily adapted as well. For those who think their waist is too large, this is a skirt! Just add some more length. This is a versatile pattern that can be made more “grown up” for mature ladies and crazy trendy for the young party girl. I like the color. It made me want to make it into a jumper somehow. The blouse, well, the fabric reminded me of the 80’s. I’ll buy it.

  I like the skirt. The only problem is it draws attention to the hip/thigh region, so if a girl is above a size 4, it may make her look hippy.

  I like the pattern. But I wouldn’t wear it. I am not a great fan of skirts, my legs look awful in skirts.

  But as someone already said, the pleats almost look like an apron…

  I love this pattern (not so much for me) and can see so many variations to edge it up or down into a more classic style.

  I saw an earlier comment about fixing the pleats. I have used a Rajah Cloth (that’s what we call them in Australia) for years to press pleats in to fabric (and smooth them out if needed). Otherwise a specialist pressing service can do this for you and is worth the slight cost for the results.

  Great pattern and the price is very reasonable.

  Love the pleats but i thought the shape of the skirt underneath could have been a bit more volumptuous instead of straight… maybe i’ll try it that way.. wish it was free though :-(

  I’m not a huge fan of the skirt, but that just may be the color. In a nice rich grey, I think it would look pretty classy.

  I am, however, a huge fan of the shirt. Is that a pattern available on the site already? I honestly can’t tell but I love it!

  i like this more than the Judy dress, it is really special. some people think the fan is unflattering but i think it’s great because the waistband is smooth to draw emphasis to a skinny waist. texture is a good thing. i tend to like my skirts either knee-length or mini and not inbetween. i’d probably also make the tip of the fan the same length as the hem. can’t wait to get crackin!

  I don’t care for the pleats. Looks like a lot of work to do and maintain. It is different though. I think the skirt underneath the pleats is great. Great basic skirt without the pleats.
