I used Butterick 3648 for Husband’s jacket and pants and Butterick 6630 (dress A) for my dress. Neither pattern was an “easy” one, but they both were reasonable in their difficulty. The directions were clear, and the sizing came out the way I expected (I lengthened the torso pieces and leg pieces for Husband since he’s tall and otherwise followed the patterns exactly.). Husband made his top hat out of cardboard and covered it with leftover fabric from his pants.
dress: embroidered polyester (looks like raw silk) and lace I had on hand jacket: polyester suiting (and leftover silk scraps for lining) pants: polyester suiting various weights of interfacing

What an excellent and original costume idea. Daughter who loves this book and the films is over my shoulder flipping out with “How awesome they look!!!”

Damn, I would love to see my boyfriend dressed up as Mr. Darcy…. he’s quite tall too, and I’m sure he would look smashing in this outfit! Great job!

Gorgeous! May I ask, what did you wear on your wedding day? This certainly qualifies for a wedding… So clever about the hat making too! You should definitely wear this dress for an occasion other than just Halloween – perhaps for a Ball or someone elses Wedding (only if the brides dress is more elaborate, check this out!)
