Corsets don,t hurt unless you lace up to tight.Which i did once with mine from limb clothing.Thing is u don,t realise it,s too tight at first till about 10 ins after you lace it.If that happens just loosen and do up slowly and see how it feels before tightening more.

They are VERY comfortable. I have worn mine for 12-14 hours at a time. We do Victorian costuming and attend Steampunk, conventions, SASS, and do modeling. They are fantastic if you have the right fit!

your corset is soooo gorgous!!!
i have the pattern for my 1st corset and can’t find any steel or spiral steel boning. do you know where i could get some, and how to cut it to the right length without ripping the fabric?
also you mentioned you design your own, but that it takes a lot of math. what type of math do you need to useand how????
sorry i’m being so nosey, it’s just so amazing that you can do that!! i’m having a hard time following the pattern…..

Fantastic corset and really good that you’re self taught.
Corsets aren’t painful or uncomfortable but I’d have to live in one all year to get down to 19"!
For those who want to learn try out Bonnie Holt Abrose’s Little Corset Book, which is pocket sized but has scale drawings you can enlarge and instructions. The patterns are pretty authentic and the lines are the seam lines so easy to work out what the finished waist is. Norah Waugh’s Corsets and Crinolines has similar resources but no instructions.
After that you’ll need you’re natural sizes, less 4" for the waist and the redraft using a good paper. Hack round some cheap drill with plenty of seam allowance and make a fitting piece and alter your pattern before trying anything expensive!
Never use rigilene but a good plastic baliene is OK for a fashion item designed for a 2" reduction. Steel is best and spiral steel great for curved bone channels.
