  I am SO excited for this! Thanks! I love having more options in my size range. I am high “average”/Low “plus sized” and I am learning to sew specifically because stores do not sell clothes that fit well. I am still getting the knack for up sizing patterns. I will be working on this dress.

  Benedikta explained the sizing situation perfectly — thank you. Not all styles were meant for all sizes. Beyond that, the smaller size stitchers are complaining that large size patterns won’t fit them? Seriously? There are, what, 4 or 5 smaller size patterns to every ONE larger size pattern.

  I like the overall design. But, were I to make it I would lower the neckline to about mid-bust and let the chiffon cover the majority of the bust (to give it a bit of an 18th century feel) and I think I would make it a bit fuller.

  I love this dress! I am definitely making this one! I agree with some of the other comments, I would love to see some burdA patterns in A greater range of sizes, because some of these styles are universally flattering. I really do love this Austen-esk dress I am going to make on for me, and one for my mom, and that model is gorgeous

  I’ve made a 50-page PDF of this pattern in both A4 and 8.5×11 versions. I didn’t follow the site’s standard print-at-home tiling guidelines, but it does include printer borders and enough overlap to match all the pieces.

  I’m having a little trouble figuring out how to upload it; can someone help me with that?

  I really like this, but do not have any copy shops near me. Is it not possible to split the patten into two separate downloads that interlink as normal once printed? Just a thought.

  Those who weare smaller sizes don’t have to panic, you just have to make some little changes with the Danielle dress, to get something similar to this beautiful gown (I love it! Maybe I’ll make this one for my sister).

  Unfortunately my English is too poor, to make a real “How to”, but i can try to explain it shortly. When youre smaller bustet, princess seams are not necessary, so you don’t have to change the bust part. When you don’t want to have the puffed sleeves of the Danielle dress, take normal sleeves of another dress or blouse and change the pattern, until it fits. Make the skirt part of the Danielle dress longer. If you like, you can take out the pleats in the front an cut the pattern in the front and in the back at the darts/pleats. Then you have three parts in the front and in the back, which can be made wider or smaller, to shape the kind of siluette you like.

  Thanks for all your comments.
  Of course would we would prefer to offer you all patterns in all different sizes, that would be ideal. The reason why that is not possible is because certain designs are set out to fit a curvier body type, versus other designs. That means that we don’t only grade patterns up in larger sizes, we design them completely new to really work for a plus size versus a smaller size.
  The other reason why we only offer a certain amount of sizes on one pattern pdf is because the depiction of more than 6 – 8 sizes on one pdf becomes unclear and hard to use.
  As you see all these decisions are made to make the quality and usability of our patterns the best experience possible even if it means that not each of the patterns are the exact fit for every single one of you.

  Such great suggestions here. I myself am in a high average to low plus size and it is time consumming to up and down size a pattern. But I’m really thrilled about there being more plus size patterns and I think Polychromatin has a great idea about possibly having two downloadable patterns. Or maybe just increasing the size range of patterns. Thanks again Burda. Stay Well, ALiish

  I do totally agree with the above..
  My first thought was … ‘WOW, very sense and sensibility, i love it’ until i saw the pattern sizes. I m a 8 (us size) 34 (eu size) and this one is too big to size down by myself….

  Good suggestion, Burda. Everyone likes stylish clothes, but not everyone has the ability (even with how-to’s) for up- or downsizing patterns. If a reasonable charge is added, so long as the size range was broad enough, more would buy. I’ve said this before; I can’t see buying a pattern, no matter what the price, if I have to spend two or three hours redrafting it to fit me. It isn’t just me; Francesca is for plus sizes, but many 8’s, 10’, and 12’s (US) would find this an attractive, comfortable garment. It can’t be printed at home due to length. But the Cate dress is a good pattern, with a note how to make it into a gown. The $2.00 (US) cost is fair, but it stops at 44 and I start at 50:( I know you can’t please everyone, but this does seem a reasonable request. Yours truly, Nehmah

  It’s really nice and I grant it all members that have only a little choice for they sewing projects, but like staticstasy I’m a little bit sad that there’s no new pattern I can use. I mean is it really neccesary to divide the patterns in “normal size” and “over size”? Or wouldn’t it be possible to make two downloadable patterns for the two sizes? Then everyone would be happy ;)
