I wanted a bag for nights out that was nice and small and had spaces for cards and cash so I didn’t have to take my whole wallet out, and space for the usual essentials – mobile, keys, and lip gloss of course!! So this is what I came up with… It folds down on itself like an envelope and closes with two poppers, inside it has a zipped section for coins, 4 card slots, a note slot, and a pouch for mobile etc. Haven’t done it yet, but I will also add a wrist strap to make it easier to keep hold of at the end of a long night out!! =)
Two more versions at the bottom, both made for friends birthdays. The outers are both Liberty cord fabrics, the top one has a hot pink silk lining and the bottom one has a bright blue silk lining. Both friends were very happy with them!!

I have been trying for several days to download the pattern portion of this project and for some reason, it does not work. I got the instructions just fine. If you could somehow send me the pattern, even if it is pasted on word, I could work with it. This looks like just the bag I want to go with my Christmas party dresses. Thank you.

Hey. Sorry you have been having trouble getting to the pattern. I have tried clicking on the link above that says ‘get all instructions’ and it just comes up with a blank page (no idea why?!) but when i try to access the pattern using the ‘Get it’ button (above right) it works fine. Just click the ‘get it’ button, then go into your purchase history in your account and select ‘print pattern at home’. If you’ve tried all this already or it still doesn’t work for you, let me know and I can try and email you the pattern.

I tried adding this to the pattern ratings (my computer is being weird so I don’t know if it worked so here it is)
I just completed mine (well except for the poppers because I’ve not bought them yet) and it looks good except for the zip compartment.
The instructions (I felt) were not completely clear for that step. As a beginner (and I mean a really beginner beginner) I was very confused, so I improvised and also took ideas from a pencil case how to, which didn’t quite turn out like the photograph. I probably should have just looked at that, but I didn’t and now I regret it!
I am also very impatient as far as tracing the pattern goes so it doesn’t close with perfect edges, but that is my fault!
As far as I’m concerned, I made my first bag and I did quite well considering. I’ll add a photo one day :P
Thanks for the pattern, maybe a how to will come up on the zip compartment one day and I will try this bag again :)

I found the same wrt the instructions. Also if adding the cardboard to reinforce it (I used plastic) I would do this before sewing up the edges, i.e. pre-box.
I made a mistake with the elastic innner bag also which meant that the elastic didn’t spring. I would recomend making the inner bag a bit wider and making sure the elastic is a bit stretched before sewing it in.
I found marking my own seam allowance tricky. I would be nice to have a version with seam allowance included :)
And I would recommend making the outer bag a touch (maybe 1/8" or less) larger than the lining.
However it is a really good design and practical bag to fit all you night out items in :) and I’ll probably be making another one sometime soon.
