This is the Afternoon Tea Top extended into a dress.
The fabric was so see-through I had to add an extra slip/lining layer. And then my girlfriend told me: Ohh, I’m always careful with gathers around the bust as it makes us small chested women look flat! (Although I’m pretty sure we always look flat) I hand stitched in some moulded bra padding to try to add some support as well as adding the straps (because I couldnt hold the dress up myself!). Works pretty well. I moved the zipper to the side to accomodate those fun squiggles on the fabric. The dress is a suck-in-and-hold exercise to get the zip up (she’s a wee bit tight).
Very light cotton with a very light linen slip.

beautiful! i really like this. the fabric is amazing. I use gathers on the bust too…you’re right, it does help the front, but i’ve also noticed it doesn’t do much from the side
oh well…it looks great on you :)

Awesome dress! And I think the combination of the fabric being sheer and the second layer underneath is actually making it look different and interesting! I hope you’ll be able to let it out, so you can wear/put it on easily – it’s a wonderful job you’ve done there!!!

your friend might have been the tinniest bit jealous of your cool dress… you dont look flat at all, and i agree with ichigogirl, gathers actually make you look bigger on the front (which is why i avoid them)
anyways, good job, that fabric looks pretty cool.

Thanks!
I’ll share your consensus with my friend. :)

Hehe, and I actually used the gathers to add some volume in that area… it’s funny how differently you can look at the same thing! Should be logical that more volume = visually bigger bust though but then it depends how you look at it :-). It kind of hides them too, I guess.
Nice adaption by the way, I really like the double material and double straps! Maybe you can let the darts out a little to make it less of an exercise to get in?

True comment. I find from the front I look full but when I critically examine from the side I look flat. But then we are all critical about different things about ourselves! I probably wouldn’t have even noticed but for my friends comment.
I really should try and let it out a bit.
I love the patterns you put up by the way. I’ve got some plans for your Anna top.
