Description

You need a warm sweater for the upcoming cold months. You don’t feel like buying another one of those cable knits you still have from last year. But you don’t know how to knit and learning that would take until next spring. The Amy sweater is a simple cut and sew knit hoodie. So simple that you can spend all your time hunting down the right fabric.

One of the images gives you a hint for next weeks pattern…:)

Oh, I like it but I’ll cut it a little bit shorter than this one on the photo.

By the way, is there anyone who knows a little trick or a good howto so that the fabric (knit) won’t get those ugly waves while sewing (I get that effect especially with some Rib knit).

Anyway, thanks for this lovely pattern.

Since this pattern uses knit fabrics that can have a lot of stretch like rib knits, you’ll need to use a walking foot or even feed foot, this will apply the same pressure to both layers of fabric you are knitting. Also be sure to use a ball point needle for knits.

I had some of the same problems and then found out a bit more here: http://www.essortment.com/hobbies/sewingknitfabr_syru.htm

This really is a cute sweater to sew. I have a similar pattern from the late 70s, except it’s a cardigan instead of a pullover…I loved it and made several. The pattern should state the required amount of stretch, for the knit fabric.

    Hi Everybody,

We made the sweater a little bit looser because we wanted a comfy look. It has a fitted shape and is definitely easy to adjust to make it fit tighter. Layla is out of town until Wednesday but as soon as she steps back into the office I will measure her and let you know what the difference is to the size we made.
Let me know any other questions you may have…

That’s a nice and comfy looking sweater. I really appreciate that we get something for winter. I like it but I prefer more fitted sweaters myself. Is it supposed to be so baggy or is it a bit too large for the model?

I like it but on me I would prefer it smaller. May I ask how tall the model is and what size she is wearing?
