Used the afternoon tea top and modified it to make a 50s circle skirt and bodice combo.
I cut the pieces and then sewed the bodice by hand, because I was, ironically, working on a deadline, and for the last week you would see me sewing like a crazy woman on the bus, on my breaks, etc. But I found that I liked the dress so much more because of the hand sewing. I joined the circle skirt to the bodice using my sewing machine, and used a rolling hem foot to do the circle skirt hem. On the side, I improvised a petticoat to add volume to the skirt.

By all means, it was a very easy sew, specially if you have experience with dresses (I didn’t!) .
The only thing that I would modify when I sew it again is to really measure my real waist, because I measured at hips, and then I had to gather the circle skirt into the bodice at waist level. Go for it!

this is the cutest and most feminine looking dress I’ve seen in a long time :o)
and I can undestand your passion for hand sewing; I have a piece of beautiful silk and I want to make a blouse, totally hand sewn using Gutermann silk thread – old fashined luxury, isn’t it?

Beautiful! I’ve been wanting to make this pattern into a dress in just the same way but I was waiting for someone else to prove it worked! So thank you ;)
