Hi,

I’ve bought a cool fabric with a strawberry print.
I want to make a bag out of it.
But the problem is, that I’ve got no idea how to make it waterproof.

Someone help me? ;)

Thanks.

There are ways to make it showerproof, but prbably not completely waterproof… If it’s cotton or polycotton, there’s aNikwax product that you can just wash in, designed for re-proofing jackets. They also do a spray on stuff for reproofing tents that might work. Look up what they do and see if something will fit the fabric: http://www.nikwax.co.uk/en-us/index.php

oooh, on a related note, I’ve gotten this fabric lunchbag pattern that calls for something called “oilcloth” for the lining material. does anyone know what this is and where I can find it? I’m guessing it’s supposed to be leakproof or something.

Oil cloth is that plastic coated table covering stuff. Try harware shops as well as fabric and curtain making shops. Dunelm Mills usually has lots of different colours and patterns. It’s a tad stiff for linings.
