1. Where are you from and/or where do you live?
I am from Slovenija, from a small village called Branik near Italian border. Even though most of people don’t know about my country , it’s a great place to live, full of life, energy and lovely people.

2. What was the 1st thing you made? How did you start sewing?
When I was a child my mother every summer would send me to my grandma Karmela to Carst some for company, to help her with household and to water her flowers. She owns a huge old house, surrounded by garden and lots of apple trees and still keeping her old singer sewing machine, lots of different pieces of textile, old Burda magazines, my mother’s clothes. ..A lot of stuff that I got in touch with and started to deal with it. I actually don’t remember the first thing that I had done, but i created lots of babydoll clothes, little bags and toys from old socks…

3. What role does sewing play in your life?
Sewing takes a huge part in my life. It’s the only thing where I put myself really into it, express myself and it’s really mine, so I can say that when I sew I put my soul into that and make it alive.

4. What is your favorite and what is your least favorite thing about sewing?
Definitely my favorite thing about sewing is that when you start sewing you never ever stop learning. Every design is a unique project with precious experiences that you got through a process of sewing. My least favorite thing is, that sometimes final work is not what I expected to be at the beginning so I get a bit disappointed wondering where I missed the main point and figuring where I was flown away.

5. If you could make something for anyone who would it be and what would you make?
I would be pleased to make the outfit for someone who has unique style, a bit avant guard maybe hippy strong and really different from average population.

6. What are you looking for on our site? What do you think should be improved and what do you really like?
I am always looking for some inspiration and ideas in projects that others post. I really like to read comments to find other people’s opinion to see what is good or not; getting the feedback from people is definitely encouraging and motivating. I check suggestions almost every time when I log in to see if i can help or to get some new advices that are helpful or check new techniques, methods…The only thing that I would change is rating, which I think is completely irrelevant because of different skill level, experience, ideas….

7. What is your motto?
I agree with A.Einstein who said that “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” The idea and concept is more important than how you know about sewing. This comes along the process and the best way to learn is through your work and own mistakes.

Some of us from the states have been to Slovenija, believe it or not – I’ve been twice! Once for the PEN writers conference in Bled, and then just for vacation. It’s so beautiful, and so is your work – thanks for sharing! The lace is just incredible!!
